The Role

What you will own.

You will help build the distributed substrate that keeps thousands of experiments in flight — compute, orchestration and the data fabric everything else stands on. Great infrastructure disappears: researchers should feel like they have infinite, reliable, cheap compute and never think about the machinery. You will own a real piece of that machinery and make it faster, cheaper or more reliable.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to compute orchestration, scheduling and the data fabric.
  • Build tooling that makes running experiments effortless and reproducible.
  • Improve throughput, reliability and cost across the platform.
  • Add observability, alerting and sane defaults.
  • Write infrastructure as code and automate the manual.

Qualifications

  • Solid foundations in distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
  • Fluency in a systems language (Go or Rust) and/or strong Python.
  • Some infrastructure-as-code and container experience.
  • Operational curiosity — you like understanding why things break.
  • Comfort with Linux and networking basics.

Nice to have

  • Kubernetes, schedulers or workflow engines.
  • Low-latency, streaming or high-throughput systems.
  • Cost and performance optimisation experience.
Learning

What this track teaches.

You will learn

  • How research platforms scale to thousands of jobs.
  • Orchestration, scheduling and data-fabric design.
  • Making reliability and cost first-class concerns.
  • Building tools other engineers depend on daily.
Tools
